Parent and Guardian Events

Posted by Tabitha on November 30th, 2006

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The school year is well under way, and our students have been working diligently on their academic and creative projects. Therefore, the staff would like to give the students an opportunity to showcase their work during this special night. We would like to extend a very special invitation to you and your family to visit us for our bi-annual PARENT PRESENTATION NIGHT! It will take place in the “Big Space” of High School for Recording Arts on Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The night will start off with introductions, announcements, and student presentations, followed by dinner with our very own student entertainment (gospel choir and piano music to name a few), and lastly there will be time for parents and guardians to meet with their student’s advisor to check on progress, updates, etc. Also, students that bring a loved one, will be entered into a drawing to win prizes. We look forward to having you join us in supporting High School for Recording Arts students on this very important night!

Additionally, there will be a Parent Advisory Council meetning the following week, on Tuesday, December 12 @ 5:30pm in the ALR room of the school. Parent Advisory Council is a great opportunity for parents and guardians to become more involved in a leadership role, and it is facilitated by parents, for parents. It is also an avenue for parents to provide support to one another, and for the schoool to update you on school happenings. Please call Tabitha Wheeler, Youth Advocate, if you are able to attend or if you have any questions @ 651-287-0895. Refreshments will be served.

Sincerely,

HSRA Parent Involvement Committee

Donte ft. Aleesha - Executive Leadership Council
Get Down ft. ATM - Don’t Be Afraid

HSRA was proud to participate in The Executive Leadership Council’s 20th Anniversary Dinner celebration in Washington, DC on October 26, 2006. Founded in 1986 by 19 executives representing the most senior African Americans in corporate America, the individual membership organization today represents more than 350 African American corporate executives who are among the most senior executives in Fortune 500 companies.

HSRA alumni Donte Suttle and Aleesha Clomon opened the dinner with a performance of an original song they created entitled, “Executive Leadership Council.” To commemorate the event, a CD with this song, “Corporate America,” another song created for the event, and “Influences” a cut from the school’s 2006 compilation CD was produced and distributed to all 2500 dinner attendees. This CD project is called The Legacy. Distribution of the CD to dinner guests was sponsored by ExxonMobil.

We here at Studio4/HSRA are very grateful to The Executive Leadership Council, their Lead Dinner sponsor AIG and ExxonMobil for the chance to participate in this event. We appreciate the kindness and support Executive Leadership Council members have shown our students and we welcome the opportunity to establish what we hope will become longstanding relationships.
